Rally Novice
Rally Novice is a structured yet engaging obedience-based activity that strengthens teamwork, focus, and communication between dog and handler. Based on AKC Rally® principles, Rally combines traditional obedience skills with movement, problem solving, and clear handler guidance in a supportive group class environment.
This class is ideal for teams looking to improve reliability, precision, and confidence while working together through a series of clearly marked stations. Rally is approachable for a wide variety of dogs and handlers and emphasizes accuracy, consistency, and engagement rather than intensity or perfection.
In Rally Novice, teams learn to navigate a course consisting of numbered stations. Each station includes a specific sign that instructs the handler which skill to perform, such as sits, downs, turns, changes of pace, and heeling patterns. Dogs work on leash and are encouraged to remain attentive and responsive as teams move smoothly from station to station.
Rally Novice builds strong foundational obedience while keeping training fun and accessible. It is especially beneficial for teams who want clearer communication, improved leash skills, and better focus in distracting environments. Handlers also develop stronger timing, clearer cues, and increased awareness of their dog’s movement and engagement.

Prerequisites
Dogs should have a basic understanding of foundational obedience skills such as sit, down, and loose leash walking. This class is appropriate for teams continuing their training beyond basic obedience and looking to improve consistency and handler communication.

Maximum of 6 dogs
Minimum of 3 dogs required for class to run
Class Start
A minimum of three participants is required to run the class. If the minimum is not met, the class will be cancelled and all participants will be notified of the cancellation.
