Disc Foundations
Disc Foundations is a fun, engaging group class designed to introduce dogs and handlers to the fundamentals of disc play and disc dog skills. This class focuses on building motivation, clarity, and safe mechanics while strengthening teamwork and communication between dog and handler.
Disc Foundations is suitable for a wide range of dogs and does not require prior disc experience. The class is structured to meet each team where they are, whether your goal is enrichment, strengthening engagement, or laying the groundwork for future disc sport training.
In Disc Foundations, dogs learn how to safely interact with a disc, build drive and interest through structured games, and develop the foundations needed for controlled disc play. Training begins with rollers and basic tosses and progresses as appropriate to each dog’s confidence and skills. Dogs work individually during class, allowing handlers to focus on timing, mechanics, and clear communication without pressure or comparison.
This class is especially beneficial for dogs who enjoy movement-based activities, need an outlet for energy, or benefit from confidence building through structured play. Handlers gain valuable skills in reading their dog’s engagement levels, reinforcing correct choices, and developing play without creating frustration or over-arousal. Disc Foundations emphasizes safety, clarity, and fun, making it a positive experience for both ends of the leash.
Build a strong foundation for a lifetime of rewarding play with your dog through Disc Foundations.
