E‑Collar 101
The E‑Collar 101 group class is designed to introduce dogs and handlers to clear, fair, and effective e‑collar communication with an emphasis on building a reliable recall and reinforcing stationary control through place work. This class focuses on understanding how and why the e‑collar is used, proper conditioning, and developing consistent off‑leash reliability in real‑world situations.
E‑Collar 101 is ideal for teams who already have foundational obedience skills and are ready to improve responsiveness, distance control, and reliability around distractions. Training is conducted in a structured group setting that allows handlers to learn timing, clarity, and consistency while dogs gain confidence working through mild to moderate environmental distractions.
In E‑Collar 101, teams focus primarily on recall (come when called) as the main task, teaching dogs to respond promptly and confidently at varying distances and around distractions. Place work is used as a secondary skill to reinforce impulse control, boundary awareness, and duration. Dogs learn to turn off pressure through correct choices, creating clear communication rather than reliance on leash cues.
This class emphasizes responsible e‑collar use, effective handler mechanics, and clear communication. Training is conducted in a supportive, low‑pressure environment that allows teams to progress at their own pace while building reliable, transferable skills. E‑Collar 101 is appropriate for pet dogs, sport prospects, and dogs preparing for more advanced off‑leash or control‑based training paths.
E‑Collar 101 helps teams develop dependable recall and improved clarity for real‑world reliability.

E‑Collar 101: Building Reliable Off‑Leash Communication
Prerequisites
Dogs should have a solid foundation in basic obedience skills such as sit, down, stay, and basic recall on leash. Dogs must already be wearing a properly fitted e‑collar and be free of behavioral concerns that would make group training inappropriate. This class is intended to build reliability, not introduce basic obedience.
