AKC Trick Dog
The AKC Trick Dog® class is designed to help dogs and handlers build teamwork, confidence, and clear communication while learning a variety of fun, functional skills recognized by the American Kennel Club. In AKC Trick Dog, teams work through a variety of foundation and intermediate trick behaviors such as spins, targeting, paws, object interaction, position changes, and shaping‑based skills. Dogs learn to offer behaviors with clarity and confidence while handlers improve timing, reward placement, and communication.
The AKC Trick Dog program emphasizes positive training, creativity, and teamwork. Training is conducted in a supportive, flexible group environment that allows teams to progress at their own pace while building reliable skills and confidence. AKC Trick Dog®: Building Skills Through Fun & Engagement
Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites. Dogs should be comfortable working in a group environment around other dogs and handlers. Prior obedience experience is helpful but not required.
AKC Trick Dog® Test
An AKC Trick Dog® test may be offered on the final day of class for teams who wish to participate.
There is no additional fee charged by Precision K9 Training to take the Trick Dog test as part of this class.
AKC registration fees and optional certificate costs are set by the American Kennel Club and are paid directly to the AKC if handlers choose to register their dog or request official certification.
Participation in the test is optional. Dogs are not required to pass the evaluation to complete the class, and teams may use the test as a training experience. Additional training may be recommended based on individual progress and goals.

Minimum of 3 dogs required for class to run
Class Start
A minimum of three participants is required to run the class. If the minimum is not met, the class will be cancelled and all participants will be notified of the cancellation.
