SPECIALTY CLASSES

Agility

Agility is a fast-paced, fun dog sport in which the dog and handler navigate through a series of obstacles including jumps, tunnels, A-frames and weave poles. Agility training is an excellent way for you to build your bond with your dog, build confidence, and put the engagement skills you’ve learned/are learning in obedience and puppy class to the test.

*All puppies and dogs must be in good health to start an agility class*

Agility 1

THIS CLASS IS HELD EVERY THREE MONTHS

We will cover foundation skills in this class that will set you and your dog up for success in the agility world. We will also introduce your dog to a number of super fun obstacles. Our goal in this agility 1 class is to have our dogs be able to safely and independently complete each obstacle: jump, tunnel, etc. when we ask them to as well as learn what our body language communicates to our dog.

This class is for dogs 4 months and older who have already completed puppy kindergarten, basic obedience, or intermediate obedience with Precision K9 Training. If you and your dog have completed obedience with another facility or on your own at home, please contact us for an evaluation to be approved for class. Dogs who are under 12 months will not be doing high impact obstacles such as full height jumps or weaves but can learn all the foundation skills needed.

This is a 6-week course designed to get your feet wet and build a love and basic understanding of the sport, and form good foundation skills to prepare for the agility 2 class as well as sequencing.

The agility 2 class is for those who have completed the agility 1 class, and have been approved by the trainer to move onto more “in-depth” instruction and sequencing with their dog. We will cover contact obstacles and weave poles in this class as well as the complexities such as handler body and footwork as a communicator to the dog. Our goal will be for each dog to gain distance and independence on each obstacle as well as confidence in their ability to play the game.

This class will introduce short sequences for you and your dog to complete and advancement to the next level will be at your dog’s pace and with trainer recommendation.

AKC TRICK DOG

Novice/Intermediate

THIS CLASS IS HELD EVERY FOUR MONTHS

Trick training provides enrichment, mental, and physical stimulation for dogs of all ages, as well as strengthening the bond they share with us. Tricks can also build the confidence of shy and anxious dogs. If you want to have fun, and are feeling the winter blues, this trick dog class is for you! Tricks learned in this class can be both entertaining and practical, and will make your dog the hit of any party with tricks like play dead, spin, shake, paws up, and many more. At the end of our six-week course, you will have learned the skills to earn an AKC trick dog title (either Novice – TKN or Intermediate – TKI). We can’t wait for you and your dog to join us!

You will have an opportunity to test on week six of the course. If tested, there is a $25 processing fee for each title that is submitted.

The “Novice” test includes demonstration of 10 different tricks from a specified list. Participants who have already earned their CGC titles will demonstrate 5 tricks. Students wishing to earn the “Intermediate” level will demonstrate 10 additional tricks from a designated list. (Please note: Not all dogs may be able to accomplish all tricks that are taught)

After you have completed your in person test you will need to send in your Trick Dog Application to the American Kennel Club.

If your dog is not registered with AKC, obtain a AKC Canine Partners form to get a number only if you don’t have an AKC, PAL, or Canine
Partners number ($19).

See the Novice Tricks Checklist and the Intermediate Tricks Checklist for the types of tricks your dog will learn in this class.
