Professional Dog Trainer

As Precision K9 Training continues to grow, we need a Dog Trainer to join our growing team. We need to continue to set the standard for the Dog Training and Care industries by providing highly skilled and motivated Dog Trainers. You’ll help our team with our K9 Enrichment, Group Obedience Classes, Specialty Group Classes, Private Training Sessions, Day Training, and our Board and Train services as we continue to add clients to our roster!

The Skill Set

  • Candidate must have experience working with and training dogs.
  • Candidate must possess skills in dog handling and training and be physically capable of providing exercise for dogs.
  • Candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Candidate must have experience working on a team, the ability to take direction from our more experienced trainers and managers.
  • Dog training experience is required.
  • Dog care facility experience is preferred.
  • Experience with social media and business development is a plus but not required.
  • Opportunity to shadow team dog trainers to gain knowledge.
  • The successful candidate will gain an understanding of the workflow of Precision K9 Training and identify ways they can contribute to maximize team efficiency, have full knowledge of Precision K9 Training services, understand our commitment to customer service, work with a team fulfilling all the dogs’ needs in our care and more.

Performance

Within 1 Month You’ll

  • Complete our onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision and team and gain an understanding about how your role fits into the broader organization.
  • Shadow staff to learn how Precision K9 Training is currently being managed and understand ways to contribute to team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand the future goals of the organization.
  • Learn the basics of Dog Psychology and how we behave around the dogs in our care.

Within 3 Months You’ll

  • Work in the K9 Enrichment, Day Training, and Board and Train (at facility) services under supervision.
  • Conduct private training sessions with clients under supervision.
  • Conduct Group Obedience and/or Specialty Classes under supervision.
  • Meet regularly with team leads for updates and feedback.
  • Meet regularly with team leads to ensure goals are being met.
  • Fully understand internal growth options and have a clear path for growth within the company.
  • Have a solid understanding of dog behavior and psychology.

Within 6 Months You’ll

  • Work in the K9 Enrichment, Day Training, and Board and Train (at facility) services under less supervision.
  • Conduct private training sessions with clients under less supervision.
  • Conduct Group Obedience and/or Specialty Classes under less supervision.
  • Meet regularly with team leads for updates and feedback.
  • Meet regularly with team leads to ensure goals are being met.
  • Fully understand internal growth options and have a clear path for growth within the company.
  • Have a solid understanding of dog behavior and psychology.
  • Be part of a team that is changing the world in dog care!

Job Type: Part-time with potential for Full-time

Salary: $15.00 – $25.00 per hour (dependent on your knowledge and experience)

  • Professional dog handling and training: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Driver’s License (Required)

Work Location: In person

We work with puppies and adult dogs for obedience, manners, and moderate behavior modification. Customer service and dog care are *extremely* important to us. Must love both people and dogs, and be committed to your craft.
