Agility

Agility is a fast-paced, fun dog sport in which the dog and handler navigate through a series of obstacles including jumps, tunnels, A-frames and weave poles. Agility training is an excellent way for you to build your bond with your dog, build confidence, and put the engagement skills you’ve learned/are learning in obedience and puppy class to the test.

*All puppies and dogs must be in good health to start an agility class*

Agility 1

We will cover foundation skills in this class that will set you and your dog up for success in the agility world. We will also introduce your dog to a number of super fun obstacles. Our goal in this agility 1 class is to have our dogs be able to safely and independently complete each obstacle: jump, tunnel, etc. when we ask them to as well as learn what our body language communicates to our dog.

This class is for dogs 4 months and older who have already completed puppy kindergarten, basic obedience, or intermediate obedience with Precision K9 Training. If you and your dog have completed obedience with another facility or on your own at home, please contact us for an evaluation to be approved for class. Dogs who are under 12 months will not be doing high impact obstacles such as full height jumps or weaves but can learn all the foundation skills needed.

This is a 6-week course designed to get your feet wet and build a love and basic understanding of the sport, and form good foundation skills to prepare for the agility 2 class as well as sequencing.

Class Size: 6 dogs
Length: 45 minutes for a total of 6 lessons
Location: PK9T Training Facility: 303 E McKinley Rd, Ottawa IL 61350
Cost: $100
When: Sunday 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Agility 2

You’ve likely already come to love agility and the connection it brings you and your canine friend. The agility 2 class is for those who have completed the agility 1 class, and have been approved by the trainer to move onto more “in-depth” instruction and sequencing with their dog. We will cover contact obstacles and weave poles in this class as well as the complexities such as handler body and footwork as a communicator to the dog. Our goal will be for each dog to gain distance and independence on each obstacle as well as confidence in their ability to play the game.

This class will introduce short sequences for you and your dog to complete and advancement to the next level will be at your dog’s pace and with trainer recommendation.
